FAQ
1. What is nutritional therapy? How is naturopathic nutrition different from a dietitian or nutritionist?
Nutritional therapy is a personalised, holistic approach to health that uses food, lifestyle, and targeted support to help the body restore balance. Naturopathic nutrition looks at the body as a whole and focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of imbalance, rather than simply managing symptoms.
While dietitians often work within clinical guidelines for specific conditions, my approach is more individualised—combining evidence-based nutrition with a broader, whole-person perspective.
2. What should I expect during a consultation?
Your initial consultation is a detailed, in-depth session where we explore your health history, current symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and any relevant medical background. This helps build a full picture of your health.
From there, I create a personalised plan tailored to you, which may include dietary guidance, lifestyle recommendations, and supportive strategies. Follow-up sessions allow us to review progress and make adjustments as needed.
3. Do I need to have a specific health condition to work with you?
Not at all. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from nutritional therapy. Many people come with ongoing symptoms like low energy, digestive discomfort, or hormonal imbalances, while others simply want to optimise their health and feel better day to day.
4. I’ve had symptoms like bloating, fatigue, or painful period for years—are they really something to address?
Yes—these symptoms are often your body’s way of signalling that something is out of balance. They may be common, but that doesn’t mean they’re something you have to live with.
Rather than masking symptoms, my approach is to understand why they’re happening and support your body in addressing the root cause.
5. Will I need to follow a strict or restrictive diet?
No. My approach is not about rigid rules or extreme restrictions. Instead, we focus on building a way of eating that is balanced, realistic, and sustainable—one that supports your health while fitting into your life.
6. How long does it take to see results?
This varies from person to person. Some people notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may need longer-term support depending on the nature of the imbalance. The focus is always on creating lasting, sustainable change rather than quick fixes.
7. Do you recommend supplements?
Where appropriate, supplements may be recommended to support your health. However, the foundation of my work is always diet and lifestyle first.
8. Can I continue with my GP or medical treatment?
Yes—absolutely. Nutritional therapy is designed to complement, not replace, conventional medical care. I may also encourage you to stay in communication with your GP where appropriate.
9. Is this approach evidence-based?
Yes. My work combines up-to-date scientific research with traditional principles, ensuring recommendations are both safe and effective, while still being tailored to you as an individual.
10. How do I know if this is right for me?
If you’re ready to better understand your body, address the root causes of your symptoms, and make meaningful, lasting changes to your health, this approach is likely to be a good fit.
If you’re unsure, you’re very welcome to get in touch to discuss your situation.
